This article was about how cell phones can now allow you to be a part of more social networking.

GyPSii, a social network made specifically for mobile phones will offer a location-based search for people, places, and events.  This “real time location-based element” adds a new twist to the term social networking.  Your cell phone will be able to record where you are and what you are doing and make it available for those in your network.  You will be able to receive maps and directions and find friends who are nearby and popular places to go.You can download this software for free at their website.

Interactive barcodes in newspaper ads

This article is about interactive barcodes.

There is a new offering from google that allows you to purchase advertisements with special barcodes.  These barcodes have to be decoded and the message will give you a website address.  This form of advertisement has already taken off in Japan.

To decode these barcodes, you will have to have a decoding software that allows you to see the hidden message.  This will help advertisers measure response to their ads.  Right now the software is only on about 1% of phones, but in the future more phones will have this feature.  Right now this method will not be utilized until it is further developed.

NASA – Virtual World

This article is on NASA using virtual space.
NASA hopes this virtual space game would help find the future scientists and engineers needed for the future. They already own an island on Second Life. They hope that one day the public will be able to take part in virtual missions through it. NASA has asked interested organizations to respond by the middle of February so they can start developing the platform.
